Clean Clogged Gutters

Use your chosen method scoop and drop bucket or bag to scoop out leaves and debris from the gutters.

Climb a sturdy ladder with the end of a garden hose in one hand. Your ladder should be sturdy safe and large enough for the job. Work in short sections along the gutters and don t overreach from the ladder. When you reach the top opening of the downspout ask a helper down below to turn on the water.

If the clog is caused by loose hangers or spikes. Turn the hose on and spray down the spout. If water flows out of the bottom carrying leaf debris with it your job is complete. Water isn t draining from the downspouts water overflows from gutter and drips from joints gutters are clogged with leaves and needles as regular maintenance to keep them working properly.

If the cage is in good shape firmly re seat it into the downspout hole. Keep your body upright and reach only as far as you can without leaning away from the ladder. Problems caused by clogged or broken gutters are expensive to fix but easy to prevent. If the amount of water coming out is less than what is going in there is a blockage.
