Clean Melted Wax Off Carpet

Chilling the area with ice cubes and scraping the hardened wax will remove most of the wax it may not remove candle wax that the fibers of the carpet have partially absorbed.

Run a warm iron over the paper or cloth to heat the wax. Run the iron over the paper keeping it in constant motion. Repeat step number 5 with fresh brown paper or terry cloth until the wax is all gone. Next lay either a brown paper bag or a clean cloth directly over the affected area of your carpet.

Don t let the iron get too hot or it could melt the carpet or burn the paper. Remove the plastic bag and begin to scrape the wax off the carpet using a dull knife. Dampen a white cotton towel fold it in half and place it over the wax. Using a warm iron slowly press the iron on top of the paper bag or cloth.

Blot with a clean white cloth. A paper bag over the wax stain. Spread a clean terry cloth or brown paper e g. You can get this wax out of the carpet by using a clothing iron and a towel or clean white cloth.

There is probably still some remaining wax that has now melted so scrape it away with the dull edge of the knife. Continue ironing until all of the wax is soaked up and clean the area with a carpet solvent. The remaining pieces may budge with a little bit of friction. Stop as soon as you begin to see wax seep into the paper.

If the plastic or wax still doesn t come off try freezing it with an ice pack and breaking it apart once it s frozen. Repeat until the wax is gone you may have to hold the iron in place for up to 30 seconds. Change to a clean paper and repeat until you don t get any more up. Press an iron set on high over the towel for 10 seconds.

Get any remaining bits of wax or dye stains out of the rug with a commercial cleaning solution or rubbing alcohol. Heat an iron to a medium setting with no steam and press the iron to the paper bag directly over the wax. Place a piece of the brown paper bag over the candle wax spill. If there are still bits stuck to the carpet afterward try gently scrubbing the area with a carpet cleaner fabric cleaner or rubbing alcohol.

You ll see that the material will start to absorb the wax and lift it off the carpet. Place more ice cubes on the spot to harden remaining wax and pry it up with the knife. The heat will draw the wax out of the carpet and into the towel. Now onto the carpet cleaning.
