Cleaning Floor Glue Off Vinyl

Scrub gently if required so that the finish does not become damaged. Abrasive cleaning agents or abrasive pads will scratch your vinyl finish. Begin by applying the cleaner either to the cloth or directly to the vinyl bench. Both of these products can be found at home improvement or hardware stores.

Thanks to a little acetone that old floor glue and dirt is history. Apply the vinegar to the affected area of the vinyl surface and allow it to soak for 10 to 15 minutes to soften the adhesive. Wipe the area thoroughly to remove the sticky residue. Other homeowners have even used mineral spirits to assist in cleanup.

The cloth should be slightly moist and not dripping. What they do recommend is a wire brush and soapy water. You may need to use a flat straight edge such as a plastic scraper or old credit card to lift the adhesive from the vinyl. Spray down a laminate flooring cleaner and then wipe it away with a microfiber or terrycloth mop pad.

Before the flooring experts jump all over me or slam my comments i have to share that they don t typically recommend using a harsh chemical like acetone to clean the floor with. Use a dry rag or cloth to gradually loosen the residue. Instead it must be cleaned while slightly damp but not soaking. The solution can be floor stripper or acetone based nail polish remover.

Use the liquid sparingly. Amazing results very safe. Acetone chemicals help loosen the glue. Chip the bulk of the super glue off of the vinyl using a razor.

Use a fine grit sandpaper to sand off the dried glue. Remove the acetone based solvent from your floor promptly. Take off only the top layer of super glue. Simply take a piece of dry cloth or a new sponge and make it slightly damp.

Protect your hands by wearing rubber or latex gloves. If there is a lot of glue then you may wish to push the glue towards a plastic card and lift it away before rubbing the flooring with the cloth. Sand carefully avoiding surrounding areas not affected by the glue. Wipe up any residual dry vct adhesive from the floor or surface with a clean white cloth dampened with mineral spirits or a commercial adhesive remover.

Wipe over the surface of the vinyl where the glue is. Laminate flooring isn t the type of product that you can wet mops like vinyl or tile. Do not try to dig underneath the glue because this will damage the vinyl.
